Gus Taylor

Gus Taylor, III, age 60 of Erie, died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following an illness of 3 years.

He was born in Erie on June 24, 1954, a son of Gus Taylor, Jr. and the late Ora Lee Frye Bankhead Taylor.

Gus graduated from Central High School in Jackson, MS in 1972 and served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked at Hammermill Paper Company.

Gus was a member of Morningstar Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother Donnie Lee Taylor and his stepsister Sara Christian.

Survivors include his sons Lamont Robison, Shawn Dunn, and Gus Taylor, IV; daughters Nikki Howard and Gakarla Poole; brothers Bill R. Taylor, Sr., Anthony Christian, Danny Taylor and Roy Taylor, and several stepbrothers and stepsisters, and a close friend, Jackie Madison.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
