Gunvor Skogsholm

Gunvor Alice Skogsholm, age 83, died on December 22, 2021, in her home in Erie, PA.

Gunvor was born in Trondheim, Norway on March 21, 1938, to Alida Ovedie Winter and Gabriel Singstad. She was raised in Trondheim, the youngest of six children. On March 29, 1958, she married Einar Skogsholm, of Vuku, Norway. They moved from Norway to Erie, PA in 1967 where they raised a family of four. Gunvor achieved a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Pennsylvania State University, Behrend, in 1981, and a Master of Arts in History from State University of New York College at Fredonia, in 1985. In addition, she worked towards a PhD in History and wrote a dissertation about Quisling. She was the editor of the Poetry Forum magazine, which had many subscribers. In addition to her life as a mother and homemaker, she played chess, bridge and was very active. She enjoyed walks in the neighborhood and swimming at the YMCA. She also enjoyed tennis, ice skating, biking, sailing, cross country skiing and downhill skiing. She traveled regularly to Norway.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Einar Skogsholm and four of her siblings.

Gunvor is survived by her children and grandchildren, Arvid (Bonnie) Skogsholm, of Merrimack NH, their children, Lauren (Pedro) Ondrush, Eric Skogsholm, and Kara Skogsholm; Gunnar (Charlotte) Skogsholm, of Annapolis, MD and their children, Trygve Skogsholm, Karsten Skogsholm, Johann Skogsholm, and Aleanna Skogsholm; Jarl Skogsholm, of Vero Beach, Florida, and his children, Kristian Skogsholm and Stuart Skogsholm; and Alida (John) Skogsholm, of Pittsburgh PA, and their children Tor Skogsholm and Inga Skogsholm; two great grandchildren, Alexander & John; her sister, Gerd, of Trondheim, Norway; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th St, Erie, PA 16502.
