Guido Bucci

November 25, 1929 — October 27, 2017

Guido (Papa) W. Bucci, Sr., age 87, of Erie passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born November 25, 1929 in Erie the son of the late Anthony and Florinda Chicatelli Bucci.

Guido was a 1948 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and served with the US Army during the Korean War. From 1951-1953 he served with the Army Infantry while stationed in Germany. Following the war, he became a purchasing agent for several local businesses including Penn Union, Tanner Manufacturing, and Top Roc. Guido was an avid craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, having made several pieces of his own furniture. He also was a shoemaker and following his retirement, worked at Tip Top Shoe Shop. He loved fishing, golf, and bowling, having once bowled a 700 series. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and following the activities of his grandchildren. Guido was a former longtime member of St. Paul’s RC Church and was a current member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie D. Ferrare Bucci who died in 2008 and by a brother, Vincent Bucci.

Guido is survived by his children, Roberta Bucci of Erie; Tony Bucci and his wife Yvonne of Cranberry Twp., PA; Guido Bucci, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Niles, OH; John Bucci and his wife Tricia of Greer, SC; and Linda Bucci of Erie. He is the grandfather of Nicholas Bucci, Tiffany Watters (Robb), Aimee Bucci, Katlin Bucci, Anthony Bucci, Jr., Nicole Bucci, Guido Bucci III, Julia Bucci and Grace Bucci. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren; a sister Phyllis Friedman of FL, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Monday from 2-5 & 7-9 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Tuesday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sarah Reed Retirement Center, 227 West 22nd St., Erie, PA 16502 or to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen, 218 East 11th St., Erie, PA 16503.
