Grove Blanchard

Grove A. Blanchard, age 77, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Erie, PA on December 8, 1939, a son of the late Tessie and Esther Beard Blanchard.

Grove was a 1959 graduate of Academy High School and attended Edinboro University. He worked for General Electric, where he retired from after 39 years.

Grove was a sports enthusiast who loved basketball, football and track and loved the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Lakers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne Blanchard.

Grove is survived by his loving wife, Eula Blackwell Blanchard. He is further survived by his children, Grove Blanchard, Jr., Sheila Blanchard and Eric Jones. Also surviving are his siblings, Tessie Blanchard, Jr. and Argola Thompson, his step-children, James Jackson, William Chandler, Cindy Davis, Roland Chandler, Teresa Chatman and Rose Glover as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Monday, March 13th at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie County Diabetes Association, 1128 State St., Suite 302, Erie, PA 16501.
