Gregory Swift

September 23, 1958 — February 23, 2014

Gregory Joseph Swift age 55, of Millcreek, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his residence following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Erie on September 23, 1958, a son of the late Joseph and Noreen Coleman Swift.

Gregory attended McDowell High School and graduated from Saegertown High school and went on to become a very dedicated employee at Pepsi Bottling Co. for over 30 years.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Cleveland Cavaliers fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon in the Pepsi car. Greg was a great athlete and enjoyed playing volleyball and baseball. He loved to work on his stock portfolio, dancing and keeping in touch with his many friends, including those at the Cab. Greg was a great uncle and enjoyed spending time with all of his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat Rudy.

He is survived by six siblings, Ashley Swift (Roberta) of Cleveland, Scott Swift (Sarah), Stacy Mattson (John); Lisa Swift all of Erie, John Swift of California and Michael Swift of Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Adam and Ryan Swift, Jamie, Jenna and Miranda Mattson, Abigail Swift, Megan and Alexa Swift and a great nephew Audie Swift. He is further survived by his loving companion of many years, Sarah Maio and her daughters Aja and Tara. Also surviving are many other cousins including Jim and Judy Galvin and family and Linda Thames.

The family would like to thank his special friends Cathy Mannion and Debbie Kobal and AseraCare Hospice for their unwavering care and devotion during his illness.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Bruce Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Erie Cemetery.
