Grace L. Hogue

Grace L. (Nelson) Hogue, age 83, of Erie passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 after an extended battle with cancer. She was born November 23, 1941 in Oil City, PA the daughter of the late Kenneth and Pearl (Mester) Nelson.

A longtime resident of Erie, Grace made friends everywhere she went. She loved a scenic drive, visiting the peninsula, and spending time with family. She loved inspirational music, playing the organ, and singing in the choir at church. Grace enjoyed going to the casino and was a skilled bingo player, often able to manage an entire table filled with bingo cards! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of almost 65 years, John D. Hogue; a son, Gary Hogue (and his wife Angela) of Corry, PA; and two daughters, Lisa George of Chesterland, OH and Brenda Hogue of Erie. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Baker (and her husband Carl) of Girard, PA and Sally Monroe of Palm Bay, FL and is the proud grandmother of Allison and Natalie George.

There will be no visitation and services will be private. A celebration of life is planned for early June at the peninsula.
