Founder of Gordon’s Quality Meat Market
Gordon E. Wunch, age 79, of Canadohta Lake, died at home Wednesday, July 27, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Erie on January 30, 1937, to Karl G. and Helen (Carlson) Wunch. He was a former Millcreek resident.
Gordon graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1955 and worked as a meat cutter at several location in Erie throughout his life. He was the founder of Gordon’s Quality Meat Market at Peach and West Gore Roads. He was a longtime member of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, and he especially enjoyed boating and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William J. Wunch of Greenville, S.C., Karl A. Wunch of Fairview, Pa., and son, Mark A. Wunch.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Ann (Lininger) Wunch. He is further survived by a son, Michael G. Wunch (Brenda), and two daughters, Marlene A. Osczepinski (Philip) of Hoover, Ala., Michele K. Serafin (Dan), and daughter-in-law, Tina Wunch. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 24458 Westview Drive, Canadohta Lake, Pa. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John D. Coleman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gordon’s name to the Regional Cancer Center or to Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, 54th and Peach. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home.
