Goffredo C. Ianiro, DPM, age 56, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015, following an accident.
He was born in Rionero Sannitico, Italy, on November 9, 1958, a son of Emanuele and Irma Ianiro of Cleveland.
He was a member of St. George Church in Erie, St. Theresa Church in Union City, PA, and the Probus Italian Club.
Goffredo attended high school in Cleveland, graduated from John Carroll University and the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He was the Director of Podiatry Medicine at Millcreek Community Hospital, and instructor of Surgery at LECOM.
Goffredo loved spending time on his farm near Union City, growing vegetables and raising chickens. He was an avid photographer and opera fan; liked soccer, golfing, and cooking; and enjoyed attending flea markets and going antiquing with his kids. He was a compassionate doctor who saw his work as far more than a job and would make time for his patients whenever they needed him. But above all else, his greatest love was spending time with his children and family. As he always said, he was a husband and father first and a doctor second. But he loved all of those roles.
Goffredo's pursuit of the American dream took him from herding sheep in an Italian village to seeing the Pope in Vatican City. He was proud of his humble roots and was determined to pass on to his children the values with which he was raised.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Lisa Rockey Ianiro; and his three beloved children, Briana, Gianluca and Matteo Ianiro, all at home; a brother, Bruno and his wife Silvana of Cleveland, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and several Godchildren.
