Gloria J. (DiFrancesco) Marinelli, age 83, of Erie passed away Friday September 20, 2024, at UPMC Hamot. She was born August 22, 1941, in Erie the daughter of the late Dominic and Dorothy (Disbrow) DiFrancesco.
A lifelong resident of Erie, Gloria spent most of her years working as a realtor/ broker for various real estate companies including Metro, Spiegel Realty and her son’s company, Realty Executive. Later in life she sold gravesites with the Erie Diocesan cemeteries. One not to sit still, Gloria was an excellent seamstress, a poet, tour guide with pilgrimages to Medjugorje, and being a caregiver. She also belonged to the Italian American Women’s Association (IAWA) and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic church. Her Catholic faith played a large role in her life and she taught religious Ed, was a Eucharistic minister, and hosted St. Joseph Day celebrations at her home and later at OLP.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Nicholas Marinelli along with three children: Michelle Marie Marinelli of Erie, Stephanie Ann Longberg and her husband Keith of Rockwell, NC and Nicholas C. Marinelli and his wife Sally of Harborcreek. She is the sister of Connie Schillinger of Erie and Debbie Hoese of Phoenix, AZ. Gloria is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. on Tuesday September 24, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Further visitation on Wednesday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 2401 W. 38th St. from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
