Glenn Moon

Glenn Edward Moon, age 82, of Erie, passed away March 15, 2016 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in New Brighton, PA on May 1, 1933, son of the late Edith V. and Daniel E. Moon. He was a graduate of the former Millcreek High School.

He worked as a crane operator first and then as a machinist at the former Erie Forge and Steel for over 47 years retiring in 1999. Glenn also worked in the early days of the growth and development of Millcreek Township assisting in the installation of many of the water and sewer lines of the township.

In his over 50 years as an active member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church, Glenn ‘did it all’. As a volunteer he assisted the Pastor in whatever way he was asked, taught Sunday school, led the Youth Club, sang in the choir and worked doing many of the church maintenance tasks. He also was the primary builder of Camp Lambec and Westminister Highlands in Emlenton, PA. Glenn’s work ethic was extremely strong and he gave much to those projects in which he was involved. Above all his work Glenn was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents Glenn is preceded in death by his wife Pauline who died in 2014 after 59 years of marriage and his son Dennis in 1986.

He is survived by three children, Glenn (Pamela) of Indiana, Paul (Linda) of Florida, and daughter Joyce Bjork (David) of Tennessee; Glenn also was very proud to have eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Additionally, his brother Clifford (Katherine) of Erie, sister in law Katherine Moon (Erie), brother Louis (Margie) of Arizona and sister Wilma Jayjohn (Larry) of Alabama, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit the family at Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 2816 Elmwood Ave. on Friday March 18th from 7 - 9 pm and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 am. with Rev. Harry Johns as celebrant.
