Gilbert Watson Sr. age 90, of Erie, passed away peacefully February 19, 2022. He was the son of Everette Buggs-Watson, and Connie Mae Spearman. Gilbert was born April 4, 1931 in the family home in Lawrence Park, PA. He graduated from Technical Memorial High School in 1951.
Gilbert served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1960, serving in the Korean War. After successfully serving in the Army, he worked as a foreman and pattern maker for over 45 years at Erie Castings Company. He was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church. Gilbert served faithfully in multiple ministries including the trustee board, and van ministry; he loved to travel.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his late wife, Mildred Moffatt- Watson, an infant daughter, a daughter Brenda Watson, a son Jackie, and a grandson, Dedric Gordon.
Mr. Watson is survived by his children, Patsy (Clifford) Barnett, Dean (Patricia) Moffatt, Ricky, Gilbert Jr. Gloria, Debbie, and Dante. Mr. Watson had 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to call on the family Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Second Baptist Church, 757 East 26th Street, Erie, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full Military Honors. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown 602 W. 10th Street, Erie.
The family requests that all visitors wear masks for the visitation and funeral.
