Gertrude Harris

Gertrude M. (Otterson) Harris, age 97, of Erie passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the LECOM Senior Living Center. She was born May 24, 1920 in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada the daughter of the late Leonard and Fern O’Brien Otterson.

A longtime resident of Erie, she and her late husband James, were active members of St. Andrew Catholic Church. She also enjoyed following the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Miller Harris; two sisters, Lorraine Otterson and Kathleen Walter and two brothers, Chester Russell Otterson and Harold Otterson.

Gertrude is survived by a son, James Michael Harris and his wife Beth of Mentor, OH and a daughter, Janet Harris of Erie. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Meghan (Harris) Schnakenburg, Sarah (Kistler) Drabant, Maura (Harris) Davis, Jeanette (Kistler) Andrawes, Conor Harris, James Kistler, Flannery Harris and Cullen Harris;11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1116 West 7th St. on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the  St. Andrew Food Pantry, 1116 West 7th St., Erie, PA 16502.
