Geraldine Schaefer

Geraldine Mezzacapo Schaefer age 65, of Fairview, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday,

October 29, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on November 23, 1947, a daughter of the late Vincent and Marie Patterson Mezzacapo.

She was a 1966 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. She was the original Martha Stewart, she was a master of all trades, who was a wonderful homemaker, cook and baker. She loved helping others and family was most important to her. She had worked as a waitress for over 15 years for Serafinis, five years at the Bel-Air and a few years at Mr. C’s. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son Bryan, her husband Denny Schaefer in August of this year and her son Aaron Schaefer in October of this year.

She is survived by a granddaughter Nadine Schaefer and her mother Kristy Erickson; five sisters: Charlene Chimera, Kathleen Eicher, Jackie Jaraczewski, Angela Schultz and her husband Robert and Denise Whiteman and her husband Edward and their son, Brian Mezzacapo all of Erie; several brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street on Saturday from 1 to 3 and 5 until the time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the Funeral Home.
