Geraldine "Betsy" E. Lohrer

Geraldine E. “Betsy” Lohrer age 88, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at UPMC Hamot Hospital.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on May 20, 1936, the daughter of the late Ross F. and Geraldine E. McCarthy Brown.

Betsy graduated from Fairview High School in 1954. She married Walter G. Lohrer on August 18, 1954, passing a month shy of their 70 year anniversary. Betsy moved to Saegertown in August of 1972, moving back to Erie in December of 1985. She worked as a teacher’s aide 11 years for Penn Crest School District. She enjoyed reading, gardening and watching Nascar racing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Munn and a son, Craig S. Lohrer, in November of 2020.

She is survived by her husband Walter G. “Jerry” Lohrer, son, Kenneth G. (Vince) Lohrer of Conneaut Lake, PA; a daughter Kathleen (Norbert) Adam of Cambridge Springs; son, Christopher G. Lohrer of Saegertown; a sister, Johanna Davis of Erie; four grandchildren, Cami Gorski (Vince), Jules Adam (fiancé, Laura), Michael Lohrer and Kristine Babcock (Ben) ; two great grandchildren, Indi and Laielle Gorski, a sister, Johanna Davis; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Lohrer, and six nephews.

Services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Home, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital,  501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the charity of one's choice.
