Geraldine Hadden

Geraldine M. Hadden, age 93, of Fairview, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born on June 19, 1921 in Punxsutawney, PA daughter of the late Ernest and Mae Dietman Matthis.

Geraldine raised three children and was a very attentive mother and grandmother who absolutely adored her family. Everyone knew her kind and gentle nature; she never had a bad word to say. Geraldine loved to go shopping, cook, and read. She loved her friends and will be deeply missed.

Geraldine was a member of St. Ann’s Church and the Rosary Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband William S. Hadden in 1986, two sisters; Bernice Howells and Winifred Fisher; two brothers Frederick Matthis and Raymond Matthis and her grandson William S. Hadden III.

Survivors include her two daughters Susan Leopold (Art) of Erie; Carol Goodapple ( Thomas ) of OR; and her son William S. Hadden II (Suzanne) of Erie; grandchildren Nathan (Vicki) Leopold, Jennifer Leopold, Dr. Katherine (Don) Sill, Gregory Goodapple, Ted, John, and Victoria Hadden; great-grandchildren Alexandra, Jalen, Jamison, Tristan, Ethan, Thomas, Spencer and Trevor and one great great granddaughter Willow. She is also survived by her sister Cecelia Dunlap and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street Erie, PA 16506 (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday between the hours of 1:00-3:00 and are invited to attend a service there at 3 p.m with Father Michael DiMartinis officiating.

The burial will be private in Lakeside Cemetery.
