Gerald Wygant

Gerald W. "Gary" Wygant, 67, of Erie, died Monday, January 12, 2015, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pgh., following a brief illness.  He was born November 27, 1947, in Erie, son of the late Milton A. and Betty Jane Miller Wygant, Jr.  A lifelong resident of Erie, he graduated from East High School and worked for Liberty Iron and Metal Co. for 40 years retiring in 2012.  He previously worked for Inland Container and Firch Bakery.  Gary enjoyed many things including reading, building models, and his pets, but most of all he enjoyed life!
     Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jerry Lee Wygant; a daughter, Kelly Wygant of Ballston Lake, NY; four sons, Jody Wygant, Eric Wygant and wife Elizabeth, and Jamie Wygant and wife Sandy, all of Erie, and Patrick Wygant and wife Vicki of Franklin, PA; five brothers, Milton S. Wygant, Donald Wygant and wife Sharon Schultz, Dan Wygant and wife Sharon, Dale Wygant and wife Kathy, and Eric Wygant and wife June, all of Erie; dear friends, Carl and Nancy Hook of Erie; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  A brother, Dave Wygant, preceded him in death. 
     Friends may call Friday 3 to 7 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street.  Private funeral services and services of interment will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507; or to The A.N.N.A.
