Gerald Schumacher

Gerald V. Schumacher, age 81, of Erie, died Thursday, November 13, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Born in Erie on May 11, 1933 he was son of the late Gerald V. and Margaret Simmons Schumacher.

Gerald was a graduate of Academy High School, Class of 1951 and a graduate of Gannon University Class of 1959. Jerry was employed as a Supervisor at the Office of Employment Security for many years prior to his retirement. A great sports enthusiast, Jerry had managed the Erie Admiral Soccer Team from 1994 thru 1998; loved race car driving and worked on a Pit crew; he was also active in Glenwood Juvenile Hockey.

In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Jordano Schumacher; and a son, Jerry Schumacher

He is survived by his children, Kathy Presogna, David Schumacher, of Erie, Chris Schumacher, of Denver, Mary Liotta and her husband Jeff, and Lori Hubert, all of Erie. 13 grandchildren, Sheila Wagner, Lisa Fickenworth, Michael Presogna, Tony Schumacher, Chris Loomis, Tom, Dave and Angela Schumacher, Anthony and Maria Liotta, Heather Schumacher, Celia and Nick Hubert. He is further survived by 8 great grandchildren, his half-sister Susan Foltz and her husband Greg, and cousins..

Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Blessed Sacrament Church on Saturday, November 29th at 11am with the Reverend Michael DeMartinis Celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Soldiers and Sailors Home and the staff of AseraCare Hospice for their great care of their father.
