George Edward Plavcan

George Edward Plavcan passed away peacefully on Monday July 17, 2023 at the age of 70, after a brief illness.

He was born in Erie, on August 18, 1952, a son of the late George and Margaret (Wolf) Plavcan.

He graduated from Academy High School in 1971. George worked at Penn Brass and Copper for several years. He worked at General Electric as a Tool repair Technician for 30 years until his retirement.

George loved the outdoors and spending time in the woods. He especially loved spending time with his cats Fred and Lenny.  George would always have a good story to tell about them. He enjoyed Saturday’s going to farm auctions and meeting friends for lunch. He was always willing to give a helping hand and could be found helping as pit crew at tractor pulls or helping at the ASHO horse shows with Hi-Step Stables in Edinboro in his younger years.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Plavcan whom he spent many years caring for during her illness.

He is survived by his brother, John G. Plavcan of Erie and his sister Dora Ann Gondo of Tennessee. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, great niece and nephew and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his best friend Chico and close friends Danny and Eddie.

The family would like to especially thank Rachel from Saint Vincent ED, Jacob and Belinda from Saint Vincent CNICU, Kim and Kevin and the cath lab team, Ashley from Saint Vincent cardiology, Dr Yogeswaran and especially Dr Pappas.

Friends and family are invited to attend visitation at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral; Services, West Ridge 3801 West 26^th Street Erie Pa. at 11:00 am  on Saturday July 22,  followed by a Funeral Service at noon. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
