Genevieve Kern, age 84, of Fairview, passed away, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Cicero, IL, on January 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Pietro and Giovana Redini.
Jeanne was totally devoted to her husband of 66 years, Chuck. They also had one daughter, Cheryl, lost at an early age. She loved nature and wild creatures (except ants) and was devoted to conservation. Jeanne was secretary to the vice president at Sunbeam Corporation in Chicago. She was a board member of the Presque Isle Audubon Society for fifteen years, and a member for approximately fifty years. She was president of “Return”, Erie’s first All-City Recycling project under Mayor Tullio. A highlight of Jeanne’s life was living two years in Europe with her husband while working on the TAT4 Trans-Atlantic Undersea Telephone Cable Project for ATT.
In addition to her husband, Chuck, she is survived by a niece, Joan Silvestrie of Chicago; brother in law and sister in law, Dr. Robert and Dolores Tomendal of Norfolk, VA and their children: Susan, Sandy, Rob and Rusty. She is further survived by Richard Ciaroci of WI and Raymond Ciaroci of NY, and numerous other nephews and nieces.
Arrangements are being handled by Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Condolences may be sent to www.burtonfuneralhomes.com.
