Genevieve C. "Genny" Czarnecki Gorniak, of Erie, went peacefully to the Lord Sat., Oct. 15, 2011 at Golden Living Walnut Creek surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Port Huron, MI, daughter of the late Felix and Bernice Czarnecki. Genevieve was extremely active in life always looking for the next adventure. She loved the holidays always making them so special for those who were involved in her life. Christmas was her favorite time of year with her amazing beautiful trees that she decorated throughout her home. When you walked into her house, you could smell the delicious aromas of her home cooked food. Her apples pies were her specialty. Genevieve loved 'picking' in the orchards and enjoyed canning the fruits and vegetables of her harvest. She loved fishing with her dear husband Edward on the "Silver Fox" and she threw the best parties you can imagine.
Genevieve graduated from Port Huron High School. She worked in sales for General Electric retiring in 2004 after 33 years of service. She loved her job and received several awards for her outstanding customer service and sales achievements. She was a member of St. George's Catholic Church.
Besides her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, Edward Gorniak; three brothers, Felix Czarnecki and Walter and Victor Rodgers; a sister, Helen Rodgers; and a granddaughter, Angel Lent.
Survivors include three daughters, Genevieve Zaccagnino and husband Rocco, Therese Dobrich and Suzanne McGuire and husband Pat; a son, John Lent and wife Jill; and a stepson, Gregory Gorniak and wife Sandy, all of Erie; three sisters, Bernice Young of Port Huron, MI, Josephine Swidersky of Memphis, MI and Dolores Mortimer of Warren, MI; seven grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Dobrich, Deanna Wiseman, Michelle Zaccagnino, Christopher McGuire and Ashley and Austin Lent; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Tuesday from 4 p.m. until time of service there at 6 p.m. with Deacon Robert Ball of St. George Catholic Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 W. Eighth St., Suite 216, Erie, PA 16501.
