Gayle Fratus

Gayle L. "Gank" Fratus, age 77 of Erie, passed away at her residence on Monday, February 12, 2018.

She was born in Erie on April 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Wilfred John and Laurette Evelyn Reitinger Fratus.

Gayle was a 1958 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and helped to organize their class reunions.  She was an amazing woman and owner of A & M Bauman Carpet, which she operated through the 1980’s and Russell Upholstery until recent years.  Gayle was a former member of St. Matthews Church.  She had a passion for animals and travel, having visited Africa and Egypt.  She served her community, volunteering for the Caring Closet and teaching English as a second language to senior groups.  Gayle will be remembered as a loving, caring, stoic, accepting nature and “get it done” attitude.

Gayle is survived by her primary care giver, Toni Gayle Bacon and her grandson, James (Danielle) Bender and his daughter, Ever; granddaughter, Abra Bender, and her daughter, Jaqueline Winifred Labrozzi Fratus; her brother, Richard (Marlene), of TX and her nephew and niece, Jeffrey (Michelle), of TN and Judy Langford, of TX.  Gayle is further survived by many cousins, friends, and business associates.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10^th Street Erie, PA, on Sunday, February 18th from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
