Gary Perry, Sr.

Gary L. Perry, Sr. age 78, of Erie, passed away at home on January 18, 2019 at. He was born in Erie, PA on March 24, 1940, a son of the late Emerson and Arlene McArthur Perry.

Gary was a student at Harborcreek High School and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. as well as being a career military man. He also studied at the University of Texas and was a highly trained chef. working for many fine restaurants. In later years. he enjoyed coin collecting and acquired a variety of prized pieces. He also enjoyed fishing and was a long time, dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by two brothers, George Perry. Jr. and Arthur Perry as well as three sisters, Sharon Wilson, Phyllis Casscillo and Kathy Szuba.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonita Jones Perry, three sons, Brian Scott Perry (Hollie), Gary L. Perry, Jr. (Jayne), all of Erie and Stephen Wayne Perry (Kelly), of West Virginia. He also leaves two daughters, Betty Jean DeWolf, of Erie and Dawn Marie Barter (Rick), of Arizona. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also remain along with four brothers, Robert Perry, of Erie, Big Michael Perry, of North Carolina, Little Mike Perry, of Altoona and John Perry (Carol), of Erie, three sisters, Sandy Perry, of Erie, Martha Daub, of McKean and Debbie Wheeler (Walt), of Erie. Many nieces, nephews and caring friends will miss him as well.

Friends and family may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West 10^th St. Erie, PA 16502 on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service there at 1:00 pm. Burial with full military honors will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
