Gary Hiles

Gary L. Hiles, age 81, of Erie, passed away on March 8, 2022 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born on January 23, 1941 in Lancaster, OH, a son of the late George and Jeannete Sites Hiles.

He was a 1958 graduate of Millersport, OH High School and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 until 1966. He was employed as a supervisor at Hammermill International Paper for 39 years.

Gary regularly attended Asbury United Methodist Church and was a member of the Tuesday Morning Men’s Group and the Erie Ostomy Support Group.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed attending sporting events. He got the nickname Flipper after falling in the bay fishing on the Public Dock.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Gwen Hiles; two sisters, Donna Moore and Sondra Luke; one brother Charles Hiles, and a grandson Mickiel Hiles.

Survivors include his wife Deanna L. Huff-Hiles; one daughter, Jamie (Joe) DiNunzio; a son Scott (Lissa) Hiles; and a step-son James Huff. Seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church 4703 W Ridge Rd, Erie, PA 16506 with Rev. William E. Hastings officiating.
