Gary Evans

Gary Jack Evans, age 67, of Erie, PA, passed away on January 5th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on March 30th, 1954, the son of the late Egnute and Helen Evans.

Gary was a Bay Rat, and affectionately known as the “Zager”.  He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, especially his ‘49 Panhead, that he disassembled and reassembled in his living room often.  He enjoyed watching the Alligator Boys, Moonshiners and Swamp People.  He was an avid reader, and could tell you anything you wanted to know about his favorite musicians, guns and the Old West.  He was a devoted father, and grandfather, and took great pride in this. 

He is survived by his brother-Robert; children-Jennifer, Jesse and Staci; several grandchildren & great grandchildren and constant companion-Darlane.  While they were no longer married, they remained best of friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-James & Randall, and his beloved German Shepard Wiley. 

He did things on his terms, and it was no different with cancer-after veraciously winning the first battle, he conceded on the second.  He is most certainly jamming out to Lynyrd Skynard and the greats right now, with Wiley by his side.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hillman Cancer Center 2500 W 12th St, Erie, PA 16505, or The Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity.

Friends are invited to call on the family, Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10^th Street. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity 247 E Front St, Erie, Pa 16507. Burial to follow in Saint John the Divine Cemetery.
