Frederick Abbott

June 22, 1926 — May 20, 2013

Frederick "Fred" W. Abbott Sr., age 86, of Erie, passed away on Monday May 20, 2013 at St. Mary's Asbury Ridge.

Fred was born on June 22, 1926 in Erie, PA son of the late Dr. Frederick E. and Agnes Wilson Abbott.

Fred attended Strong Vincent High School, graduated from Hargrave Military Academy and served in the United States Army during World War II. He attended Edinboro University and graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a BA in History.

Fred enjoyed boating, fishing, and traveling.

Employed as a stock broker and Vice President of investments at Prudential Bache (Wells Fargo.

Preceded in death by a sister Margaret Bingler.

Survivors include his good friend of 45 years Jane Marshall; son Frederick "Rick" Abbott of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter Christie P. Abbott of New York, NY. Twin granddaughters Kylee and Ashley Abbott and a sister Jeanne Todd.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Thursday from 4-7 pm and are invited to attend a memorial service at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Friday at 11:00 a.m.

Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
