Fred Blarr, Sr.

Fred Blarr Sr., age 98, of Lake City, PA, passed away on Thursday May 25, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on November 14, 1924 in Buffalo, New York, the son of the late Jacob and Edna Blarr.

Fred graduated from high school in Buffalo, New York and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He studied Electrical Engineering at Erie County Technical Institute.  He worked as a General Sales Manager at Erie Press Systems. In his down time, he was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables. Fred was totally devoted to his family, and spent a lot of time teaching them handyman tricks and tips. He always enjoyed kicking back with a bottle of Schmidt’s. Fred was a member of the Sheraton Park New York Fire Department for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Blarr; son, David Blarr; daughter, Barbara Blarr; brothers, Raymond Blarr, William Blarr and Lawrence Blarr; sister, Jean Godden.

Fred is survived by his son, Fred Blarr Jr. (Annie); daughters Nancy Golden (Tim) and Laurie Blarr; grandchildren, Jerry, Joey, Katie, John, Jacob, Barbara, Kimberly, Andrew, and Rob; sister, Jackie Darcey; good friend, Sally Weed and fifteen great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Tuesday May 30, 2023 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm and on Wednesday May 31, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.  Burial to follow at Girard Cemetery.
