Frank P. Szuminski, 97, passed away peacefully in Palm City, FL with family at his side on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 after a brief illness. Born on June 3, 1918 in Braddock, Pa. and raised in Edinboro, he was the son of the late Antoni and Maria Wiglusz Szuminski. Frank served in WWII for the U.S. Army as T/4 Sgt. for the 1777th Engineers Construction Battalion throughout the Asian Pacific theater from 1944-1946. He later owned and operated KWICK Auto Repair in Erie and was a machinist for Erie Forge for over 20 years. Frank lived a long, full life in Erie and follows in death his beloved wife Annie (Hriniak) Szuminski, son James Szuminski and sister Wanda Dedinsky. He is survived by his son Gary Szuminski and wife Barbara (Conrath) Szuminski of Palm City, FL with 4 grandaughters, Nicole, Angela, Kimberly, Sarah Szuminski and great granddaughters, Julianna and Shoshanna; his brothers Walter Szuminski of Erie, Pa. and Joe Szuminski, with wife Delores of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Carol Szuminski, Marylu Szuminski, Larry Dedinsky, Tom Dedinsky, Patti (Dedinsky) McAndrew; Linda Harper and family (Ken Sr., Kenny, and Beckie); sister in-law June Milligan and family (Ronnie, Tom and David); as well as many friends. A decent, honest man with admirable integrity and wit, Frank will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to call at the St. James Cemetery Chapel, State Route 411 Edinboro (Crossingville), PA on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 11:30 am till the time of a funeral Mass there at 12:00 noon with Father Dan Hoffman celebrant . Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506 is handling arrangements.
