Frank Swanson

January 21, 1938 — December 20, 2017

Frank E. Swanson, age 79, of Millcreek died peacefully on December 20th 2017 at his home. Frank was born in Punxsutawney, PA on January 21st 1938 to the late Bernard and Beulah A. Henry Swanson Sr.

Frank attended Punxsutawney Area High School before joining the U.S. Army.  From 1956 to 1990 Frank served his country.  He served in the U. S. Army, U. S. Navy, and the U. S. Army National Guard, receiving the National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals while in the Navy. He retired as a bus driver for EMTA.

Frank attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, as well as the Alcanon Club on East 6th Street. He loved to read, bowl, travel and especially enjoyed camping with his family.  Frank also did talented leatherwork for many years.

In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by three sisters Lois Leksell, Marjorie Raybuck, and Sara Ellen Griebe. He is further preceded by three brothers, Bernard Jr., Fred, and Paul Swanson.

Frank is survived by his wife of 37 years, Loretta Hinkson Swanson; four daughters; Lisa Haight of Edinboro, Carrie Kalka (Robert) of Erie, Aimee Sepetjian (Mehran) of New Jersey, and Melinda Anderson (David) of Waterfordand a son, Thaddeus Swanson of Erie. Frank is further survived by several grandchildren including: Jennifer Soltis, Joshua Haight, Amber Poniatowski, Jason Kalka, Jack Sepetjian, Max Sepetjian, Sam Sepetjian, Melissa and Mark Lupole and Amanda, Emily and Alex Swanson. Frank is further survived by many great grandchildren including, Theodore Soltis, Archie Poniatowski, and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister Anna Ruth Manners West of Decatur, PA and  his brothers Donald (Eleanor) Swanson of Irwin, PA and John (Brenda) Swanson Allensville, PA.

Friends are invited to call on the family at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Saturday,  December 23, from 11:00 until the time of the Memorial Service at Noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to a charity of your choice.
