Frank T. Hajnik, age 92, of Girard, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in Lake City on October 2, 1922, a son of the late George and Anna Skoda Hajnik.
Frank graduated from Girard Rice Avenue/Union High School. He proudly served his country during WWII as a merchant marine. Frank worked as an over the road truck driver and as a carpenter. He built his own home near his parents where he could be of assistance to them. His love for Lake Erie, fishing and boating was life long. He also enjoyed bicycling, walking, bowling and RV traveling. Frank was an avid baseball player and had coached Little League baseball in Girard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline; a son, Timothy; a brother, George Hajnik and a sister, Elenor Hajnik Cross.
Frank is survived by his son, Russell F. Hajnik and his wife, Peggy Tatara Hajnik. Many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He is further survived by close friends, Rick and Reba Robie and their daughters, Taylor and Mackensie.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6 until the time of the prayer service at 8pm. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery.
