Frank Anthony Budny, age 82, of Erie passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at UPMC Hamot. He was born October 12, 1933 the son of the late Boleslaw and Alexandra (Kowalski) Budny.
Frank attended St. Stan’s grade school and graduated in “1952” from Cathedral Prep. While at Prep he lettered all four years in swimming and water polo. After graduation he worked for the City of Erie at the Chestnut St. Swimming Pool and the Waterworks on Presque Isle. It was at the Chestnut St. pool that he met his wife of 60 years, Barbara Delgado.
In 1958 he was drafted into the US Navy and 19 years after leaving high school he graduated from Gannon College. Frank was retired from Erie’s General Electric. His main interest were his children and grandchildren. He was a regular at their swim meets and for several years was a PIAA swimming official. Frank enjoyed traveling, especially to see his family and he also served as an usher at St. Andrew Catholic Church for several years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Ann Budny, an infant son, along with two brothers and four sisters.
Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Delgado Budny along with a daughter Dawn Weber (Gerry) of Plant City, FL and a son, Dr. Patrick Budny (Patricia) of Montgomery, AL. He is the grandfather of Ryan Roberts (Amanda), Matthew Roberts (Samantha), Andrew Roberts (Amber) all of Florida and Gina, Erin, Cari, and Alex Budny of Montgomery, AL. Also surviving are 2 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 Am in St. Andrew Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
