The Spirit of Frances Janette (Krizanik) Poniatowski, age 92, of Erie returned to her beloved Jesus and the Blessed Mother on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, FL.
Frances was born on the family farm in Corry, PA on Friday, October 12, 1928, daughter of the late John and Frances Mikus Krizanik.
She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Lindsey Hollow until the eighth grade and graduated from the Corry High School in June of 1946. She moved to Erie in 1947 and was a member of St. James Church for 63 years. Frances met her husband Henry in 1949. They owned the White House Restaurant on Broad St. in Erie. Frances and Henry were married for 51 years.
Fran was a small little lady but she was strong beyond her stature. She raised her family with the help of a strong faith and did an amazing job. Her grandchildren were blessed to be loved and cared for by her and are stronger, more loving and thoughtful due to her example. She could out-work, out-play and outlast most of the family on any given day. Everyone who was fortunate to know her would agree.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry in 2000 and son Ronald Henry in 2004.
Survivors include four sons: Carl (Mary), Mark (Joyce), Frank ( Kelly), Eric ( Amy) all of Erie, a daughter, Kathleen Wardle (Don) of Georgia and one sister, Katherine Petrosky of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
She is further survived by ten grandchildren: Jason, Nathan, Jared, Staci, Kyle, Ryan, Troy, Erin, and Joseph Poniatowski, and David Baird. Thirteen great grandchildren: Lucy, Gregory, Agatha, Augustine, Archie, Collin, Henry, Luke, and Keira Poniatowski; Ayden, Alexis, and Baylee Blakeslee; Aiden and Rebecca Baird and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was a member of the Legion of Mary, and the Community Outreach Group. She served on the Harborcreek Parks Commission, worked for St. James Church and Iroquois High School and was an advocate for Overeaters Anonymous. Her hobbies included canning, camping, gardening, upholstering, genealogy and collecting clothing and toys for needy families. A special thanks to Mark and Joyce Poniatowski for taking mom into their care the past two years.
