Frances Quinn Buseck, age 91, of Fairview, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022 at home.
She was born in Erie, on July 6, 1930, the daughter of Francis Bernard and Mary Harrington Quinn, and stepdaughter of Florence Weschler Quinn. She was forever devoted to her family, her faith, and her community.
After Mercyhurst High School, she graduated from Trinity College in Washington DC. She then taught at Academy High School in Erie, until she met the love of her life Donald Buseck. From their marriage forward she was dedicated to her family and raising and guiding her four boys.
Community service was a constant in her life, from her days in the Junior League where she provided lectures at the Erie Planetarium, to the decades she served as Chairwoman of the Sarah Reed Children’s Center. In more recent years she continued her service by delivering Meals On Wheels and serving as a Eucharistic Minister to those unable to attend church.
Throughout her life she was committed to her Catholic faith. She was instrumental in the formation of Holy Cross Church in Fairview and was active there since its formation, as a catechism teacher and until recently a Lector at Mass.
She enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, and was a lifelong bridge player. She was an enthusiastic traveler with her husband. She found tremendous enjoyment in meeting people from other cultures and developing relationships with them. Fran and Don were citizen diplomats for People to People. They traveled to several countries meeting leaders in the legal profession from those societies.
Known to family and friends as Fran, Mom, Nana, Aunt Francie, and The Franner, she will be remembered fondly for her graciousness, kindness, compassion, and a sense of humor that never wavered even at the very end.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2012 after 56 years of marriage, and by her son Michael.
She is survived by sons Kurt, Fairview, Mark (Melissa), Erie and David (Lisa) of Chappaqua, New York and by daughter-in-law Jane (Mike) Wanner, Chapel Hill, NC, and the joys of her life: her 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren (with another on the way). She is further survived by her sister Mary Scolio and her sister-in-law Sally Rouch, both of Erie, and many nieces and nephews.
