Florence Piasecki

Florence M. (Silman) Piasecki age 88 of Erie, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Saint Mary’s East. She was born the oldest of three girls in Uniontown, Pa. on January 15, 1928 a daughter of the late Harry and Eleanor Babb Silman. Florence spent most of her childhood and adolescence in the coal mining town of Bobtown, Pa. After graduating from Point Marion High School she moved to Erie where she met and married her late husband, Leon A. Piasecki who passed in 1988. Florence worked briefly with Kondu on West 12th Street and then became a dedicated homemaker. She was a great lover of history and enjoyed history books, bowling, jitterbugging and spending time with her poodles. Florence leaves two children; David L. Piasecki and his wife Joanne of Michigan and Deborah Yurkovic and her husband Kevin of Erie. Four grandchildren also remain; Katie and Karen Piasecki and Julia and Michael Yurkovic. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters; Rita Reuse and Marian Carrigan along with husband Jack, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special word of thanks to Home Instead Senior Care of Erie and St. Mary’s East for all of their work and dedication over the last years and weeks. This left our family in peace knowing our loved one was in good hands.

Friends may call on Friday, from 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, Pa. 16510 and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Luke Catholic Church, 421 East 38th Street, Erie, Pa. 16504 with The Very Reverend John P.
