Florence Hanson

Florence Margaret Gorny Ericsson Hanson age 96, of Erie, passed peacefully at her home on August 12, 2015.

She was born on August 27, 1918 in Erie, PA to the late John and Praxeda (Szuba) Gorny.

She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad W. Hanson and a son Robert Hanson.

She was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her family; they were her greatest joy.

Florence was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Church and had a strong faith with a deep devotion to Mary and the rosary. She was employed at Hammermill in her younger years and at St. Mary’s Home during the late 1970’s and 1980’s.

In addition to her parents Florence was preceded in death by her husbands’ Warren Ericson and Conrad Hanson and her son, Robert Hanson.

She is survived by her children, Michael Ericsson (Linda), Christine Shaffer (Mike), Paul Hanson, Karen Hanson, Kathleen Hanson, and a daughter-in-law, Deborah Hanson Carter; her grandchildren, Todd Ericsson, Carl Ericsson, Julie Igo, Karianne Hanson, Brian Hanson, Anna Kruppe, Matthew Ganzer, Emily Flanagan and Hope Hanson. She is further survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet the family at St. Stanislaus Church 516 East 13th Street on Monday from 10:30am until the time of services at 11am with the Reverend Bernard J. Urbaniak celebrant. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
