Ferdinando Gialloreto

March 7, 1925 — December 16, 2017

Ferdinando  J. “Fred” Gialloreto, age 92, of Millcreek, died peacefully, Saturday December 16  2017 at UPMC Hamot.

Fred was born in Galeton, PA on March 7, 1925 son of the late Guistino and Frances Greco Gialloreto. He was a 1944 graduate of Galeton High School, attended Mansfield State Teachers College and graduated in 1951 from  Penn State University as an Industrial Engineer. Fred served in the United States Army Combat Engineers during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He worked for US Steel and General Electric as an Industrial Engineer, and also owned his own mobile home heating and air conditioning business.

Fred attended the Church of the Cross and was a member of the American Legion,  Fairview Post # 0742.

He  loved meeting and visiting with his friends over  breakfast at McDonalds, fishing and riding around the Peninsula. His greatest joy was spending time with family.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Guistino, his brother Camillo Gialloreto and sister Cleora Tauscher, and an infant daughter Carolyn .

He is survived by his wife of 62 years,  Nancy Reid Gialloreto; two daughters, Diane Lukas and her husband Terry of Fairview, Linda Gialloreto and her husband Mark Soehnlein of Arizona a son Michael Gialloreto of Sheridan, NY;  brother, Frank Gialloreto of Tonawanda, NY, grandchildren, Carolyn Lukas, Nicholas, Jennifer Gialloreto and Annalyn Soehnlein and nieces JoAnn Gialloreto, Barbara O’Brien, Teresa Gialloreto and Sharon Vollmer.

Friends may call on Thursday December 21, from 10:00am until the time of the service at 12:00 noon at the  Burton Westlake  Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) with Rev. Brian K. Eiss officiating

Burial will be follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
