Donald W. Farver, age 87, of Fairview, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at UPMC Hamot
He was born in Erie on January 9, 1930, a son of the late Seth and Hazel Farver.
Don attended Gridley Elementary and graduated from Strong Vincent High School. He went on to serve in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War.
He had worked at Hayes Manufacturing and worked for the Fairview School District for over 20 years.
Don was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Girard and a member of the Fairview American Legion Post #742 where he held several offices. He was an avid bowler and coached many of his son’s teams in Fairview over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Reha Farver; three brothers, Fred, Nason, and Seth Farver; two sisters, Geraldine Smith and Lillian Ricke.
Don is survived by his son, Donald of Fairview; a daughter, Cindy Tacone and her husband, Dan of Manhatten Beach, CA; five grandchildren: Danny, Ashley, Tanner, Tyler and Alexa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to attend services there on Wednesday at 10 am with the Rev. Andrew Edwards officiating.
Burial at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors.
