Evelyn Vieira

Evelyn Hammond Vieira, age 91, of Erie passed away Tuesday, March 9,2021 at LECOM at Presque Isle. She was born March 10, 1929 in Erie the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Nellie (Kennedy) Hammond and she was the stepdaughter of the late Twila (Becker) Hammond.

Evelyn graduated from the former Academy High School in 1946 and she worked at GTE (Verizon) for 38 years. There she worked in various departments including accounting, engineering, and the executive offices, retiring in 1986. After her retirement, she worked for UPMC Hamot in the Pharmacy department until retiring again in 2011. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic church. Evelyn loved going to lunch with her friends and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by several dear friends.

There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1116 West 7^th St. All CDC guidelines including facemasks and social distancing will be followed.

Private entombment will be in Mary, Queen of Peace mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Church or to a charity of one’s choice
