Evelyn Steger

Evelyn Smith Steger, age 93, of Millcreek passed away Sunday March 16, 2014 at Fairview Manor.

She was born in Erie, December 3, 1920 daughter of the late George and Bertha Seroka Smith.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a life-long member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and for several years attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening and crossword puzzles.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Steger; a daughter, Eileen Trohoske; two brothers, Ronald and Donald Smith; and two sisters, Violet Duck and Winifred Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Veiga of Pittsburgh, PA; and a son, Joseph W. Steger and his wife Robin of Erie; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1002 Powell Ave. with Rev. Kimberly Hirsch officiating.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
