Evelyn Shaffer

Evelyn Elizabeth Shaffer, age 99 of Erie, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Forestview at Springhill.

She was born in Erie on July 31, 1919, a daughter of the late Arthur James and Gertrude O. Kelm Hoffman, Sr.

Evelyn graduated from East High School, Class of 1939. She was a bookkeeper for the Erie Paper Co., and the W.B. Mason Company.

She was a member of Wayne Park Baptist Temple, and a member of the Hamot Aide Society for over 30 years, retiring at age 94.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry A. Shaffer on May 11, 1989, two brothers Arthur J. Hoffman, Jr. and James D. Hoffman, and two sisters, Florence R. Rice and Virginia M. Burns.

Survivors include many nephews and nieces.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10^th Street, on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am with Rev. Gloria Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
