Age 97 - Evelyn went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 12, 2013. She passed away peacefully at Elmwood Gardens Presbyterian Lodge. Evelyn was born in Fairport, Ohio on November 15, 1915 to the late Clinton Gifford and Gertrude Miller Gifford O’Hara. She was two years old when she moved to Erie with her family. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grand to great-great grandmother. She loved to curl up with a good book or crochet baby items for new additions to her family. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles, and an avid Yahtzee player. Camping with the “Camp Girls” was on the top of her list of fun things to do. St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church was her home of worship. She loved her church family. Her faith kept her strong. Besides her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by the love of her life, Arthur E. Adams; two brothers, Jack Gifford (Elsie) (Betty), Bill Gifford (Mary), one sister, Lessa Way (Ken), a son-in-law, Dick Henderson, a grand-daughter, Debbie Rene’ Salorino, a great grand-daughter, Sherry Schutte , great-great grandsons, Cody Filson and Shane Henderson. She is survived by her four children, Trudy Henderson (special friend Mike Wertz), Arlene Salorino (Joe), Charles Adams (Viola) and Gail Woodruff (Scott); 13 grandchildren, Cindy Filson (Rich), Mike Henderson (Debbie), Kathi Sinnott (Jay), Joe Salorino Sr., Tammy Fenno (Chris), Tom Salorino (Theresa), Charles Adams Jr. (Dawn), Elaine Denning (Paul), Lori Adams Gillespie, Guy Lombardozzi II (special friend Laura Pitrelli-Markus), Bradly Lombardozzi (Kim), Ian Woodruff (special friend Janelle Therasse) and Tyler Woodruff (special friend Caitlin Dennis}; 31 great-grandchildren, Traci Reed, Kris Filson (Darcie), Damian Henderson (Sarah), Devyn Wozniak (Buddy), Ed Schutte (Alisa), Shannon Schutte, Sean Schutte (Kristina), Mindy Sinnott Godard, Brittany, Candice and Johnny Sinnott, Debbie Salorino (special friend Nick Golembiewski), Joe Salorino Jr. (Lisa Gonzalez), Rachel Bailey (Ray), Gary Andrew and Hannah Modzelewski , Shannon Salorino, David, Ashley, Marlee, Megan, and Allisyan Adams, Angela Kindle (Thomas), Alicia Horne, Jillian Devies-Adams, Jared Adams, Dakota, Austin, Alia, Cheyanne and Savannah Lombardozzi; 28 great-great grandchildren, Abby and Joy Reed, Klarissa and Wyatt Filson, Tinisha, Terry and Lia Henderson, Vincent Shingledecker, Isis and Trevor Wozniak, Sabrina Schutte, Justin, Aaron and Hayden Ramey, Austin, Cory, and Ashli Conner, Tyler and Juliette Sinnott, Brayden Salorino, Ariana Bailey, Aiden Salorino, Awjeawnna, Destyanna, Alisiana and Julianna Adams, Mackenzie and Olivia Kindle, a dear family friend, Lisa Ingram Scalzitti and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St., (at Powell Avenue) Erie, PA on Thursday, September 19th 6pm – 8pm; Friday, September 20th 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 9pm; and Saturday, September 21st 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Pastor Richard Schultz will officiate. Interment will follow at the Erie Cemetery.
