Evelyn Farver

Evelyn Lenore Farver, 103, of Erie, died Thurs., Aug. 14, 2014 at Forestview Health Care Center.  Formerly of State Street.  She was born May 2, 1911 in Erie, daughter of the late Roy F. and Edith Miller Farver.  A lifelong resident of Erie, she graduated from Academy High School in 1929 and majored in business at the University of Pittsburgh - Erie Center.  She was the private secretary for the Superintendent of County Schools for 39 years retiring in 1972.  Miss Farver was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church and its Altar Guild, W.E.L.C.A. and Monday Noon Circle.  She had been a member of the Business and Professional Women's Assoc. for sixty years, a member of Eastern Star for fifty years, belonged to the Women's Club of Thiel College and A.A.R.P, and enjoyed bowling.
     Survivors include two cousins, Ione Swift of Edinboro, PA, and John Burton Farver and wife Helen of Santa Maria, CA; her dear friend, Mercedes Nelson of Erie; and numerous second cousins.
     She was preceded in death by three cousins, Richard Farver, Helen Lewis, and Rev. Clem Farver.
     Friends may attend a graveside service at Erie Cemetery, Section 25, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at 2 p.m.  The Rev. William Coleman of Luther Memorial Church will officiate.  Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16501.
