Eveline Julian

Eveline Julian, 89, passed peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Abington Crest Nursing Home.

Born Elsa Ruth Forbes de Timmerman, August 21, 1925 in Batavia, Indonesia. She married Zenau den Hartog (Dan) in September, 1942, they were divorced and he preceded her in death in 2000.

She, Zenau, and their sons left Indonesia for the Netherlands and came to the U.S. in 1956. She worked in downtown Erie at the Boston Store for many years in the cosmetics department. She lived for a short time in Cleveland before returning to Erie where she resided at Methodist Towers until 2008.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Hartog, two sisters - Rose and Hanny and two brothers, Rudy and Robert.

She is survived by one sister, Heidi, two sons, Ronald Hartog (Shirley) of Pittsburgh, and Benjamin Hartog of Seattle, Washington, a daughter, Marie (Cindy) Bartlett (David) of Erie, 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Bartlett) Geraci (Antonio) of Indianola, PA, Mark Bartlett (Jamie Zieber) of Erie, Pamela (Hartog) Yeager (Tom) of Valencia, PA, Keith Hartog (Vickie) of Pittsburgh, and Elisabeth Sherman of New York City, 6 great-grandchildren: Sophia & William Geraci, Abby & Rebecca Neiser, Douglas Hartog and Adam Gronau.

Friends are invited to a memorial service on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street.
