Eugene Hecker

Eugene C. Hecker, age 92, of Girard, passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, February 21, 2014 at his residence.

Born in Crossingville on June, 23, 1921, he was the son of the late Leo and Anna Lawrence Hecker.

He attended Edinboro High School and went to Lincoln Welding School in 1939. Eugene served in the US Army during World War II. He was employed as a welder at Roger Brothers for over 43 years. He belonged to St. John’s Catholic Church in Girard and was a member of the Girard American Legion Post 494. Gene enjoyed gardening, collecting post cards and chair caning, but most of all, he will be remembered for being a family man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma A. Holder Hecker; son Ralph E. Hecker and brother Joseph Hecker.

He is survived by his wife Stella Czurzman Hecker; two sons: Owen Hecker (Christine Butler) of Girard, and Boyd (Lorena) Hecker of Erie; and daughter, Fae J. Safer (Brian) of Allentown; seven grand children and three great grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard On Saturday, March 8 from noon until the time of service at 1 PM with Father Bill Miller Officiating.
