Ethel Gasper

Ethel "Joan" Gasper, age 79, of Erie died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Independence Court of Erie.

She was born April 12, 1934 in Erie, a daughter of the late Earl Dempsey and Evva A. Gasper.

Joan graduated from Strong Vincent High School, Class of '52.

She was employed for 45 years at American Hollow Boring until her retirement.

Joan was a very active member of Rainbow Girls where she held many state offices, and also a member of Shiloh Eastern Star.

She was an avid bowler and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother James Gasper.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Grove of Erie; a nephew, Robert Grove and his wife Tammy of Bedford, KY; and several cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 602 W. 10th Street Erie, PA 16502 on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Shane Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AseraCare Hospice 1600 Peninsula Drive, Erie, Pa 16505 or to the Regional Cancer Center 2500 W. 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
