Esther Angeline Rigazzi D’Aurora, age 88, of Erie, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Erie on April 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Giovanna Letterio Ciotti Rigazzi and the late Antonio Rigazzi.
Esther was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and worked for various local businesses, including 20 years at the Erie School District until her retirement. Esther was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, where she volunteered countless hours helping in various roles. She was a member of the St. John of God Society and the Siebenbuerger Women’s Auxiliary, and enjoyed attending the GECAC Senior Center. Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother who cared deeply about her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gino D’Aurora whom she was married to for 52 years; her brothers, Peter, Florenzo (Shorty) and Dominick Ciotti, Toby and Frank Rigazzi and her sister Elizabeth Ciotti Gross.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne (George) Pancurak and Debbie (Mike) Sowieralski; seven grandchildren, Dennis (Aubrea) and Francis (Crystal) Haynes, Frank (Becky), Michael and Robert Sowieralski, Kelly (Shane) Littler and Michael Pancurak; five great- grandchildren, Aidan Tylman, Gino and Quentin Haynes, Kenley and Easton Littler. Esther is also survived by one brother, Emil Ciotti and one sister, Velma (John) Southworth.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Friday at 12:30 PM followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM in St. Paul’s RC Church.
