Ernestine Glover

Ernestine Glover, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born in Laurel, Ms. On July 28, 1927, a daughter of the late William and Charity Simmons.

Ernestine was an active member at True Holiness Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) where she was an usher, a willing kitchen worker, superindendant and a servant of the Lord doing whatever her hands found to do for the Lord. If the church was traveling, she was traveling also because she refused to be left behind. Such was the story of her life that she lived, she loved the Lord and lived to please him so she wouldn’t be left behind.

Ernestine loved the outdoors, fishing, baseball, and car racing. As for indoor activities, she loved her soap operas and watching all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernestine worked 25 years at Hamot Hospital as a housekeeper.

In addition to her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband Lucius Glover, Sr., two daughters: Anna Marie Glover, Estella Simmons; granddaughter Kimberly Simmons; two brothers: Willie Jr. Simmons, and George Simmons, Sr., two sisters: Blossie Smith and Willie Mae Grant, one son in law Willard B. Sansom, great granddaughter Marianna Moss, and a great great grandson, Antioun Wells, Jr.

Survivors include eight daughters: Sandra Simmons, Loudella Clark, Lena Glover, Ernestine Ratcliff (Johnny), Donna Jean Sansom, Blossie Glover, Martha White (James), and Mary Glover; five sons: Ernest Glover, Donald Glover (Rose), Lucius Glover, Jr. (Susan), Robert Glover (Rose), and Richard Glover (Rose); three sisters: Thelma Clinton of Sandusky, Oh, Velma Jones, Charity Simmons, one sister-in-law Allie Simmons; 65 grandchildren, 165 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, all of Erie, Pa., and a host of nephews and nieces.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Sunday from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm and are invited to the funeral service on Monday at 11:00 am at St. James AME, 236 East 11th Street.

Burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
