Ernest Ward

Ernest Franklin Ward, age 62, transitioned from labor to reward on July 18, 2016 at Saint Vincent Health Center.

Born in Erie, on February 15, 1954, a son of the late Rev. Samuel and Ruby Mae (Craig) Ward.

Ernest was a member of Victory Christian Church and loved to dance, sing and dress. He enjoyed long walks and loved the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eziekel Ward; and a nephew, Jamie Lee Nicholson.

Ernest is survived by his 5 children, Hilton Ward, Milton Ward, Ruby Ward and husband John, Mary Ward and Frank Ward, Jr., all of Erie; his siblings, Margaret Ward, Martha Ward Woodard and husband Rick, Timothy Ward, Samuel Ward, Jr, Ronald Ward, Craig Ward, Jacqueline Ward Jordan and husband Offel, Arthur Ward, and Reverend Linda Reed, all of Erie. He is further survived by his former wife, Mary Mullen Ward.

Arrangements are handled by Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Family will gather at the Erie Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m. with words of comfort to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Erie Cemetery.
