Erland Adam Carlson, 82, of Clymer, New York, passed away, Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 17, 1935 in Waterford, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Lou Petersen on October 26, 1957.
Erland was a graduate of Academy High School in Erie and served his country for two years in the US Army. After his time in the Army he worked for Amsco where he transferred to the Jamestown Plant, later he worked for Dahlstrom Manufacturing.
Poppy loved being outside with his family, going out to the barn, spending the summer in Clymer attending horse shows, boating, playing cards. While his children where growing up Papa and Mama “Slank” could be seen at all of the Falconer sporting events.
Erland and his wife, Mary Lou spent the winter in North Fort Myers, Florida where he was shuffleboard champion, played golf, and was very involved with Wake Up America.
He was was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was a past elder.
Erland is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Carlson; a daughter, Catherine Nyweide and her husband Crandall of Clymer; a son, David Carlson and his fiancee Janet of West Seneca; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Claire, Samantha, and Ava; a sister, Linda Widdowson and her husband Dale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Carlson of Erie.
Services are private at the convenience of the family.
