Emily Jane (Miller) Trejchel, 49, of Erie, passed away peacefully on February 10, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Erie on April 13, 1975, the only child of Rebecca (McMinn) Miller Heil and the late Dennis Miller.
Emily graduated from Riverdale High School in Fort Myers, FL, and earned her BFA AMA degree from Edinboro University. She had a fulfilling career as a graphic artist at Altman-Hall Associates advertising firm until her retirement due to illness.
Emily’s love for animals was evident in her volunteer work with her husband, Todd. Together, they gave their time to Because You Care and Erie Animal Network, where they fostered animals until they found their forever homes. Emily’s kindness extended beyond animals, as she later found a passion for volunteering at the Erie Free Store, where she helped those in need.
Emily’s bright smile, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering kindness were a source of joy, warmth, and light to all who knew her. Those who loved her were touched by the gentleness of her spirit and the strength she displayed throughout her illness.
Her husband Todd, whom she cherished deeply, was her rock, and lovingly caring for her during her difficult moments. Their bond was a true testament to love, compassion, and devotion. Emily was at peace knowing that she had lived a life filled with love, laughter, and fulfillment.
In addition to her father, Emily was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, as well as her aunt and uncle, Sara and Peter Ervin.
Emily is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Todd; her many nieces and nephews; a number of cherished fur babies; and her turtle, Bubba, who will continue to remind those who knew her of her heartwarming presence.
