Elvera Mary Mannarelli, age 99, of Erie died on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at St. Mary’s Home East. She was born on October 8, 1916 in Erie the daughter of Leonard and Michelina DeSantis Mannarelli.
She was a graduate of Academy High School and Erie Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Boyd Welding in Erie. Elvera especially enjoyed her 24 years at Mercyhurst College. She retired at the age of 79 from the Business Office where she was responsible for Student Accounts.
Elvera served as a secretary in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) from 1943 until 1945.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a member of St. Mark’s Seminary Auxiliary and the Montenero Ladies Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Angelina DiTullio and Mary Bove.
She is survived by her three nieces; Esther Gallagher (Edward), Dolores Garvey (James), and Marianne Bove, all of Erie and her two nephews; Fred and Leonard Bove of San Francisco, CA.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Home East for their loving care and compassion given to Elvera.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Friday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, 2510 Greengarden Blvd., Erie, PA 16502 or to St. Mary’s Home East-Benevolent Fund, 607 E. 26th St., Erie, PA 16504.
